Vanadium Supply for VRFB Applications
Abstract:
Only a very small percent of the global vanadium supply base is capable of producing "high purity" vanadium compounds which may be necessary for future VRB system applications.
Potential new demand in VFB's could result in an increase in demand for "high purity" vanadium compounds of more than 45% of current production capacity by 2020.
There is a need for dialogue among vanadium producers and VFB developers regarding the potential quality and quantity requirements for vanadium in VFB systems today and in the future.
