AMG Vanadium Wins Spent Catalyst Recycling Company of the Year Award for Second Consecutive Year

AMG Vanadium has been named Spent Catalyst Recycling Company of the Year 2026 by Metals & Mining Review, marking the second consecutive year the company has received the industry award. The recognition highlights AMG Vanadium's leadership in advancing circular economy solutions through innovative technologies that recover critical materials from hazardous refinery waste. The company was first recognised with the award in 2025.

Featured as the cover story in the June–July 2026 edition of Metals & Mining Review, AMG Vanadium was recognised for its proprietary recycling technologies, operational excellence, and commitment to transforming spent refinery catalysts into valuable products that support the steel, aerospace, defence, and rapidly expanding energy storage sectors.

AMG Vanadium's proprietary V-Cycle® roasting and melting process converts more than 99% of vanadium-bearing spent catalysts and refinery residues into saleable products, recovering valuable metals while virtually eliminating waste and removing long-term environmental liabilities for refinery customers.

Since the early 2000s, the company has recycled more than 500,000 tonnes of vanadium-bearing spent catalysts. Its facilities in Cambridge and Zanesville, Ohio, make AMG Vanadium the largest producer of ferrovanadium in North America and the only producer in the United States. Its flagship product, FEROVAN®, is produced with an approximately 80% lower carbon footprint than vanadium produced through conventional mining, providing a more sustainable source of vanadium for high-strength steel applications.

The award also recognises AMG Vanadium's continued investment in expanding circular economy solutions. Recent developments include the acquisition of Aura Technologies to strengthen molybdenum recycling capabilities and the development of the Advanced Circular Materials project in Saudi Arabia, an integrated facility that will combine spent catalyst recycling with critical materials production.

Beyond recycling, AMG Vanadium is supporting the energy transition through the production of vanadium electrolyte for vanadium flow batteries and the development of hybrid lithium-vanadium energy storage technologies, helping expand the use of vanadium in long-duration energy storage applications.

The award reflects the growing importance of recycling in securing sustainable supplies of critical materials. By recovering vanadium from industrial waste and returning it to the supply chain, AMG Vanadium continues to demonstrate the important role that recycling plays in supporting resource efficiency, reducing emissions, and strengthening the long-term sustainability of the global vanadium industry.
