On 27 March, Jiuyou (Alxa) New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. announced the groundbreaking of its 3GW/12GWh vanadium flow battery (VFB) full industry chain equipment manufacturing base in the Alxa High-Tech Industrial Development Zone. The project was unveiled during a major project commencement ceremony alongside other advanced materials initiatives in the region.

With a planned total investment of RMB 3.2 billion, the project will be developed in two phases and will cover the entire value chain—from core materials and key components to system integration. Upon completion, the facility is expected to deliver an annual production capacity of 3GW/12GWh of energy storage systems, addressing a key gap in Alxa’s energy storage equipment manufacturing sector.

The new base is designed to support the integration of renewable energy and enhance grid stability, contributing to the region’s transition toward a greener, low-carbon industrial structure.

Chairman Lu [name as provided] of Jiuyou (Alxa) stated:
“Our goal is to build a fully integrated manufacturing base with core advantages in safety, long lifespan, efficiency, and flexibility. Our products will support a wide range of applications, including renewable energy storage, grid-side regulation, and AI data centre power coordination. In particular, vanadium flow batteries offer irreplaceable advantages in large-scale, long-duration energy storage.”

He added that once operational, the project will enable the annual consumption of over 300 million kWh of renewable electricity, contributing to national energy security and China’s “dual carbon” goals.

Founded in 2025 and based in Alxa, Inner Mongolia, Jiuyou (Alxa) New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. focuses on power and heat production and supply. The company is backed by a consortium of investors, including Jiuxu (Hainan) Investment Co., Ltd., Guizhou Juneng Century Technology Co., Ltd., and Alxa High-Tech Zone Financial Investment Co., Ltd.
