On 13 May 2026, Chinese energy storage developer Yihe Green Energy and the People’s Government of Mouding County formally signed an investment cooperation agreement to jointly develop a 100MW/400MWh vanadium flow battery (VFB) energy storage project, alongside a virtual power plant (VPP) operating platform and a range of zero-carbon industrial park initiatives designed to support regional clean energy integration and sustainable industrial growth.

The partnership aims to capitalise on Mouding County’s strong resource base and strategic location advantages to accelerate the large-scale, high-quality deployment of advanced energy storage infrastructure. The project is expected to contribute to the development of a modern energy system capable of supporting increasing levels of renewable energy generation and improving overall grid flexibility and reliability.

Under the agreement, Yihe Green Energy will invest in the construction of the 100MW/400MWh vanadium flow battery energy storage station in Mouding County. Working together with local platform companies, the partners will also establish a virtual power plant platform integrating intelligent dispatch, market-oriented electricity trading, and coordinated revenue management to enhance energy optimisation and system efficiency.

In parallel, the two parties plan to jointly deploy a “Digital Energy-Carbon Collaborative Service Platform” and a “National Carbon Data Accounting and Certification Registration Platform” to support the development of zero-carbon factories and zero-carbon industrial parks. These initiatives form part of a broader effort to create an integrated “generation-grid-load-storage” energy ecosystem aligned with the evolving requirements of China’s new power system.

According to the company, the project represents Yihe Green Energy’s first vanadium flow battery deployment in Yunnan Province and marks a significant milestone in the company’s expansion across Southwest China’s growing energy storage market. The company added that it will actively advance project implementation to ensure the facility is commissioned as quickly as possible, supporting China’s national “Dual Carbon” goals while contributing to the region’s green and low-carbon transition.
