The 50MW/200MWh Zhongboyuan Vanadium Flow Battery Energy Storage Project has been successfully completed at the Lebeitian One-Million-Kilowatt Photovoltaic Power Base in Shandan County, Gansu Province, China. This large-scale “power bank”, featuring 200 containerized units and 400 electrolyte tanks, enhances grid stability and supports renewable energy utilization.

Vanadium flow batteries store and release energy efficiently by circulating electrolyte solutions through separate electrode chambers, enabling optimized energy use"The system captures surplus power and releases it during peak demand," explained Sun Faye, Automation Engineer at Sichuan Weili Energy Co., Ltd.

Installed by Gansu V-Liquid Energy Storage Battery Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Sichuan V-Liquid Energy Co., Ltd., the project was commissioned in February 2025“Last year, we completed a 5MW/20MWh project in Alxa, which is now entering commercial operation,” said Ma Hulong, Vice GM of Gansu V-Liquid Energy Storage Battery Co., Ltd. The company specializes in vanadium flow battery R&D, production, and deployment, contributing to China's dual-carbon goals.

Shandan County is expanding its renewable energy sector through an industrial strategy that includes advanced battery production lines and a 500MW annual manufacturing capacity, strengthening China's energy storage capabilities.
