AVESS Energy Partners with Atlantic Vanadium to Demonstrate Vanadium Flow Battery at Windimurra Project
August 13, 2024 – AVESS Energy, a leading Australian energy storage solutions provider, has announced a strategic partnership with vanadium developer Atlantic Vanadium to showcase its 50kW/250kWh vanadium flow battery (VFB) prototype. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the advancement of sustainable energy technologies in the mining sector.

The demonstration will take place at Atlantic’s Windimurra Vanadium Project, a world-class site located 670km north of Perth and 80km from Mount Magnet, Western Australia. AVESS Energy's VFB prototype will be integrated with solar PV into an existing off-grid microgrid, providing power to non-essential loads at the Windimurra Vanadium Mine campsite.
This partnership with Atlantic Vanadium presents a transformative opportunity for AVESS Energy to validate its VFB technology within a real-world mining environment. It also reinforces AVESS's growing presence in the Australian mining industry and positions the company as a key player in the vanadium flow battery market.
AVESS Energy Managing Director, Young Yu, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are grateful for this opportunity to showcase our VFB, and we look forward to growing our partnership with Atlantic. The deployment of our 50kW/250kWh VFB at Windimurra represents a significant milestone for AVESS Energy and a vital step toward developing a robust local vanadium supply chain.”
The two companies will now proceed with securing regulatory approvals and finalizing definitive agreements to move the project forward.
