Inner Mongolia Zongneng Intelligent New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. today announced that the Baotou Bailing grid-side energy storage power station project has entered the equipment installation and commissioning phase, as construction accelerates toward a target of grid connection and power delivery by 20 December 2025.

The project, a shortlisted demonstration project for an independent grid-side energy storage power station in the region, is progressing at a critical stage of Baotou’s “Decisive 60 Days” campaign. On-site, major civil works have been substantially completed and key equipment—including containerized battery cabins and vanadium flow battery module cabins—is being installed in parallel. Overall construction progress has reached approximately 85%

With a total planned scale of 100MW/400MWh, the station adopts a hybrid technology configuration combining 97.5MW/390MWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) with 2.5MW/10MWh vanadium flow batteries (VFB). The hybrid design is intended to support multiple grid services, including peak shaving and frequency regulation, while enhancing operational safety and lifecycle performance.

The project represents a total investment of RMB 253 million and occupies 36.61 mu of land. After commissioning, it is expected to significantly improve renewable energy consumption capability in the power supply area of the Bailingmiao 500kV substation, helping address local renewable output gaps and enabling more flexible dispatch of clean electricity across the Baotou region.

According to project expectations, once in operation the station may enable annual dispatched energy of approximately 213 million kWh, saving about 32,500 tonnes of standard coal and reducing CO₂ emissions by around 99,900 tonnes per year, alongside broader benefits to the regional energy-storage supply chain.
