The Hami Guotou Shichengzi 100MW/400MWh Vanadium Flow Battery (VFB) Independent Energy Storage Project, the first “vanadium flow” independent storage power station in Hami, has officially transitioned into commercial operation, strengthening regional power security and supporting Xinjiang’s clean, low-carbon energy transition.

Led under an EPC framework by POWERCHINA Northwest Engineering Corporation Limited (NWEPDI), the project is located in the Shichengzi Photovoltaic Industrial Park in northern Hami and covers 38,150 square meters. As a key node supporting Xinjiang’s electricity export (“Xinjiang power transmitted to other regions”), the station provides large-scale, long-duration flexibility to help stabilize the grid and improve renewable energy utilization.

With an installed storage capacity of 100MW/400MWh, the project includes one 110kV step-up substation and connects via four collector lines to the new substation’s 35kV busbar. Once operational, it is expected to deliver an annual charging energy of 146 million kWh and an annual discharging energy of 98.55 million kWh, providing reliable regulation support for long-distance power transmission and system balancing.
