Shoals Technologies and TerraFlow Energy Announce Multi-Gigawatt Partnership for Vanadium Flow Battery Deployment

Strategic agreement will combine TerraFlow’s long-duration vanadium flow battery platform with Shoals’ electrical infrastructure solutions to support deployments of up to 5 GW annually
Shoals Technologies Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: SHLS) and TerraFlow Energy have entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support the large-scale deployment of long-duration vanadium flow battery systems.
Under the agreement, Shoals will provide power distribution solutions for TerraFlow’s expanding portfolio of utility-scale, industrial and data-centre energy storage projects. The collaboration is intended to support TerraFlow’s future deployment programme of up to 5 GW per year.
TerraFlow is commercialising grid-scale vanadium flow battery systems designed to address growing demand for reliable, long-duration energy storage. The partnership will combine TerraFlow’s energy storage platform and LDUPS™ architecture with Shoals’ PowerHub™ recombiner technology, enabling the companies to pursue large-scale projects serving utilities, industrial facilities and artificial intelligence data centres.

The companies will also explore opportunities to demonstrate Shoals’ AirLink™ data-centre power distribution solution at TerraFlow customer demonstration facilities. This would allow project developers, hyperscale data-centre operators and other energy stakeholders to experience the companies’ next-generation energy infrastructure technologies firsthand.

Vanadium flow batteries are particularly suited to grid-scale, long-duration applications because their power and energy capacity can be scaled independently. They also offer long operating lifetimes, limited capacity degradation and enhanced operational safety, making them an increasingly important technology for strengthening electricity-system resilience and integrating renewable generation.
The agreement reflects the two companies’ broader efforts to meet rapidly increasing demand for energy storage. As utilities, independent power producers and data-centre developers invest in storage to improve reliability and meet rising electricity requirements, Shoals and TerraFlow aim to deliver scalable and cost-effective infrastructure for the next generation of energy systems.
