On 16 May, Sinoma Overseas successfully commissioned its SinoVess-250CS Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Energy Storage System at the High-End Equipment Intelligent Manufacturing Park of China National Building Material Group (CNBM). This milestone marks the first demonstration project of the park’s new energy storage laboratory.

The system, featuring a rated power of 250 kW and a storage capacity of 1 MWh, is designed to deliver approximately 500,000 kWh of annual discharge. It will provide reliable peak shaving and backup power for the facility, showcasing the high safety and long cycle life benefits of vanadium flow battery technology.

Key Innovations

This project is driven by a strong focus on technological innovation and includes several standout features:

  • Innovation Ecosystem: Sinoma Overseas has partnered with Hefei University of Technology and CNBM Equipment Group to establish a collaborative platform that integrates production, education, research, and application.
  • Scenario-Based Research: The system's performance under high-energy industrial conditions is being assessed for reliability, cost-efficiency, and grid compatibility, while exploring optimal strategies for “new energy + storage” integration.
  • Multi-Application Validation: The project serves as a testbed for diverse applications such as industrial microgrids, demand-side response, and peak-valley electricity price arbitrage. These insights will inform future megawatt-scale deployments.
  • Commercial Model Matrix: Leveraging validated storage technology, the project adopts a business model matrix combining design, integration, and intelligent system scheduling to support sustainable commercial operations.

Precision “Five-Total” Operation Strategy

The system is operated under a refined management model incorporating:

  • Total Parameter Monitoring: Real-time data collection via a smart EMS system.
  • Total Process Management: End-to-end project lifecycle control, from design to operation.
  • Total Factor Optimization: Multivariate optimization across technical, economic, and environmental metrics.
  • Total Scenario Testing: Comprehensive validation of system performance across mainstream industrial applications.
  • Total Quality Control: High-standard quality assurance throughout the project.

Pioneering a Greener Future

Building on this pilot project, Sinoma Overseas is advancing dual-track efforts in research validation and engineering demonstration of vanadium flow batteries. With the strategic opportunity presented by the growing scale and industrialization of this technology, the company is accelerating R&D, fostering industry collaboration, and leveraging its global engineering platform to expand in the energy storage market.

Looking forward, Sinoma Overseas plans to establish a 100 MW-class intelligent manufacturing and integration base for vanadium flow battery systems. This initiative aims to provide standardized, modular SinoVess solutions to support green, low-carbon transitions in energy-intensive industries—contributing to China’s dual carbon goals through innovative energy storage technologies.
