On 1 January 2025, Lufeng City marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking of three transformative projects: the 100MW/400MWh Vanadium Flow Battery Independent Energy Storage Project, the Vanadium Flow Battery Industrialization Project, and the Comprehensive Transportation and Energy Integration Construction Pilot Project. The combined investment for these initiatives exceeds ¥1.35 billion, underscoring the city’s commitment to clean energy and industrial innovation.

Key Projects and Highlights

  1. 100MW/400MWh Vanadium Flow Battery Energy Storage Project
    • Investment: ¥1.18 billion
    • Location: Jingshan Area, Lufeng Industrial Park
    • Timeline: Expected completion in six months
    • Key Features: Includes advanced facilities such as fluorinated ion membranes, injection molding equipment, environmental storage tanks, and vanadium flow battery system integration production lines.
    • Impact: Once operational, the project will generate 145,600 MWh annually, yielding ¥3.4 billion in revenue, ¥240 million in taxes, and creating 100 new jobs.
  2. Vanadium Flow Battery Industrialization Project
    • Investment: ¥120 million
    • Location: QinFeng Chemical Park, Lufeng Industrial Park
    • Timeline: Expected completion in four months
    • Key Features: Focused on producing 100MW/400MWh vanadium flow battery stacks, electrolyte solutions, and system integration.
    • Impact: Expected annual output of ¥800 million, tax contributions of ¥26 million, and 60 new jobs.

Wang Zhenbo, Director of the Lufeng City Development and Reform Bureau, emphasized that these projects are pivotal to Lufeng’s strategy to enhance its new energy landscape. The developments aim to position Lufeng as a central hub for green energy in the Yunnan region, fostering collaborative growth across energy supply chains and promoting ecological and sustainable progress.
