On 27 October 2023, the Xinhua Wush 500 MW/2 GWh grid-type energy storage project located in the Aheya Photovoltaic Industrial Park in Wushi County, Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang, was officially launched. The energy storage project includes 200 MW/800 MWh lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage, 200 MW/800 MWh vanadium redox flow battery energy storage and 100 MW/400 MWh carbon dioxide compressed air energy storage. It will also construct a 220kV boost collection station and living area.

The total construction period of the project is 1.4 months, with construction starting at the end of October 2023 and production starting at the end of December 2023. After the completion of the project, it will effectively adjust the upward transmission pressure in the Aksu region of Xinjiang and solve the problems of difficulty in peak and frequency regulation and insufficient voltage support capacity. The implementation of this project will have a positive effect on promoting local economic development and become a new comprehensive energy storage demonstration project in Xinjiang.
