The Yanzhao Xingtai Energy Storage Company reached a groundbreaking milestone on 15 November 2024 with the successful grid connection of the Phase I 110MW/240MWh Vanadium-Lithium Hybrid Grid-Side Independent Energy Storage Power Station Project.

As a flagship initiative under the Hebei Construction & Investment Group, the Xingtai Energy Storage Project exemplifies innovation and collaboration, aligning with Hebei Province’s vision to establish itself as a leading energy powerhouse. Phase I features an innovative hybrid energy storage system combining a 100MW/200MWh lithium iron phosphate battery and a 10MW/40MWh vanadium flow battery. The vanadium flow battery is a centrepiece of the project, known for its exceptional long-duration energy storage, stable performance, and zero capacity degradation over time. Paired with lithium-ion batteries, this hybrid approach balances performance and cost, enhancing operational efficiency and creating scalable solutions for future energy demands.

The successful grid connection marks a critical milestone, paving the way for subsequent system testing and trial operations. Once fully operational, the energy storage station will significantly boost grid flexibility, enhance peak-shaving capabilities, and support the integration of renewable energy into the western Xingtai grid. This advancement will reinforce the region’s energy security, economic efficiency, and commitment to sustainability.
